Awards and Recognition
The CCBLC was the winner of this year's prestigious Ontario Bar Association's President's Award. Each year, the OBA President selects a Canadian individual or organization that has made a significant contribution to the advancement of justice.
The award recognizes the commitment of dedicated volunteer lawyers from all backgrounds and practice areas who rapidly mobilized at airports across Canada to defend civil liberties and protect the rights of travellers affected by the ban.
OBA President, Quinn Ross stated: “To me, there is no more perfect embodiment of lawyering at its best than what the hundreds of CCBLC volunteers did this year for travellers affected by the US government’s Executive Orders last year.”

In 2017, the CCBLC also received the South Asian Bar Association's Diversity Award for its commitment to protecting the dignity of those who had become targets of official government discrimination.
We extend our gratitude and congratulations to each and every volunteer that has contributed to the work of the Coalition.
